Feeling Old...?

Or maybe it is just that I am just over 3 weeks from my next Ironman, on top of the fact that I just did an Ironman 6 1/2 weeks ago. I think I was ready to race about 10days ago, now I have to be smart get healthy and rested and be ready again in 3 weeks. My shoulder hurts when I swim, my quads are shot from doing 6-7 hr bike rides with nothing but climbing more hills/mountans than I ever have before, and my achilles is sore whether I am running or not!!!
Yes I do turn 40 in like two weeks, so maybe it isn't that I have been training/racing Ironman without a break for over a year and half. (Nah, can't be that), maybe I am not training hard enough!!!!
The last couple days have been pretty typical! Sunday I ran 20miles @ a slower pace than normal (7:20), because of my achilles issue. Then yesterday I did a bike/run brick workout, which is a 6hr ride through the mountains, followed by a 7mile run. This morning woke up and did a killer anaerobic swim workout of 4100 meters and a short 6mile run before work.
So at this point I am sitting at work using an ultrsound machine on my achilles (thanks to my PT friend Carson).
maybe tomorrow I will take and easy day? Probably not!!!

Achilles Heal

"Well its not so good". That was the first thing I said to my self when I awoke this a.m.
The Achilles is still killing me. So now I run into the question, what to do about my 22 mile run tomorrow? On top of that I have a 1/2 Ironman next weekend, and my "A" race, Ironman CDA in 4 weeks. Do I not run for several days, and cross my fingers or do I go ahead and run anyway, and cross my fingers? I know what I would tell someone else to do, but for some reason i can't seam to tell myself the same thing! Damn it!
I could live vicariously through my better half Mary. She has the same schedule as I.
Well keep positive thoughts and your fingers crossed!!

Skirtschaser's very 1st blog day!!!

Yes its true. Mark it on your calender, post it on your fridge door. This is the start of my blogging. I have joined the computer age. (well kinda).
Today was a real exciting day, I started off with a 13 mile tempo run in 25 mph winds with my very sore Achilles tendon. This Achilles thing really started acting up about two weeks ago, but normally after about a mile it warms up and I don't notice it until I finish. Well not today it hurt like hell the entire run, which actually turned into a 12.5 mile tempo run.
I limped over to my neighbor, Nicole (our local PT). She proceeded to scrap my Achilles with a torture device she called ASTYM. Shit!! Lets hope that pain was worth while. Stay tuned...
